Port into KHA
In order to port to Kendall Housing Authority, you will first need to notify your current housing authority. They will know the necessary steps to port your voucher. KHA is currently billing for all portability clients. Please use the contact information below when ready to port.
Please make sure the port packet is addressed, Attention: Portability Coordinator, April Wisch
Mail: 711 E Roosevelt Road, Wheaton, IL 60187
Once you have made the decision to port your voucher, and your current housing authority has confirmed with you that your paperwork has been sent to our office, you should contact our Portability Coordinator, April Wisch, to confirm receipt of your paperwork. It is your responsibility to make sure we receive your paperwork. KHA will not call you to inform you when your paperwork has arrived.
Once you confirm that your paperwork has been received, you will then need to speak to our Portability Coordinator to set up a briefing and to receive KHA moving papers. The average time to schedule a briefing is 10-14 business days. Briefing meetings will take place on by appointment only. Then, once you submit completed moving papers, it is another 7-10 business days to schedule an inspection. Timing is dependent on the submission of all required information.
Please note that per Kendall Housing Authority’s Administrative Plan, determination of voucher bedroom size is based on the following; one bedroom for the head of household and spouse and one bedroom per each additional 2 household members.
Port out of KHA
Effective immediately and until further notice, no family can port with their voucher to another jurisdiction, unless that jurisdiction; (1) absorbs the voucher, or (2) the family has an approved Reasonable Accommodation from Kendall or DuPage Housing Authority.
Due to a 2017 federal funding cut; 5% of all current program participants and 3% for families who port out, Kendall and DuPage Housing Authorities have made the decision to deny port out requests until further notice. The decision to deny port out requests was made to avoid taking vouchers from current families.
